Already a popular destination for hundreds of thousands of vacationers each week during the summer, and a popular Mid Atlantic golf mecca, Ocean City and its surrounding communities to the north and to the west have become home to a whole new generation of year round residents and retirees over the past few decades. With such a wide variety of choices of single family homes, town homes and condominiums and water front properties in so many different price ranges, there has never been a better time to invest in the resort home of your dreams.

OCEAN CITY, MD
Ocean City is actually a barrier island bracketed by beautiful sandy white beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and miles and miles of waterfront property along the inland bays and canals that stretch all the way up into coastal southern Delaware. Ocean City has a long history of fishing, both commercial and recreational and bills itself as the "White Marlin Capital of the World”, where in early August, one of the largest fishing tournaments in the world, “The White Marlin Open,” is held.
Ocean City currently supports a year-round population of about 8,000, with the town itself being a major employer. In the summer, businesses and government agencies are augmented with about 100 seasonal police officers, plus extra firefighters and other workers. The town of Ocean City extends just over 9 miles from the southern inlet to the Delaware line. This tiny barrier island now supports dozens of hotels, motels, apartment houses and shopping centers, plus many year round residential communities, and thousands of condominiums. The downtown neighborhood is still marked by Victorian style houses and other older buildings.
Others have been razed in recent years to create space for additional parking, condos and recreational facilities. Today, the Ocean City area continues to sprawl westward across the bay and toward Berlin and Ocean Pines where it is now recognized as being part of the Ocean Pines Micropolitan Statistical Area. The resort area now accommodates thousands of residents who have adopted the resort area as their new home all year long.
For sports enthusiasts, the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department operates a variety of activities to keep fit and have fun.

DELAWARE’S COASTAL RESORTS
There are numerous reasons for the incredible growth of southern Delaware’s resort area. Part of it may have to do with the many coastal and inland towns and communities being so convenient to major population centers all over the mid-Atlantic region. The friendly people who live there year round also add to the lure and attraction of these small resort towns. Part of it may have to do with Delaware’s consumer friendly tax status. And part of it may simply have to do with those cool breezes coming off the Atlantic Ocean, the sandy beaches, the boats or the fishing in the bays. Whatever the reasons are, more and more people are calling southern Delaware home all year round than ever before.
The coastal resorts of southern Delaware include (from south to north) the towns of Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Rehoboth Beach & Lewes which are all situated along the Atlantic Ocean, plus many other small towns and communities like Ocean View, Long Neck, Millsboro & Selbyville which are located just a few miles inland. All of these towns and communities provide a peaceful haven for those who live there year round while still being able to offer some of the finest shopping and recreational activities found anywhere on the east coast.
